I got the call on Monday that the ring was ready. So I tried to figure out what to do for the proposal. Most of the ideas seemed simply just far-fetched, cheesy, corny or just plain obvious and overdone. So in the end it fell to something more close to home and more indicative of the relationship itself. Now the planning of how to actually ensure that everything would go as planned without Elsey being alerted by suspicion.
On friday when I came home from work I mentioned that I was craving lobster bisque. ( The first time we went out took her to Hamburger Hamlet at Rio Mall near shadygrove. They serve a great lobster bisque ). On Saturday I had to run the usual errands of going to the bank depositing my paycheck and transferring fundage around. I raced to the banks and got all that done then I went to the mall to pick up the ring. I called her on the way to the mall to tell her I was on the way to the next bank and that there had been a long line. On the way back from the mall I stopped at the Latin grocery and bought some Ceviche. From experience we had previously found this Ceviche to be pretty bad. I brought it home and told her that the craving was worse and I just bought the ceviche in the hopes of maybe adding some spices and countering the craving for the bisque. She suggested that we could go to Rio Mall for lunch the next day. (Mission 1 Accomplished)
I hid the ring among my computer parts and let the day wear on. Later in the night I got a bit of a scare as she started trying on different outfits and some were quite a bit more dressy than anything one would normally wear to the Hamlet. I was sure she was on to me and so I kept telling her that she probably would want to dress in clothes that were just relaxed and comfortable because we were just going to the Hamlet for lunch and then we'd be right home unless we stopped for a movie as well. She kept trying on clothes and I pretended to ignore her playing video games (TF2).
The next morning I feigned lazyness to remain in bed because she was up and eager to go and so I wanted to throw her off. I told her maybe we could go another time because I didn't feel like driving all the way up there. Eventually I let her convince me to get ready and we left. On the drive up we were discussing somthing about fitting of pants and she grabbed the leg of my pants to show how tight a different pair was, and I brushed her hand off and told her she shouldnt mess with my leg while driving. (Actually she had grabbed the leg of my cargo pants just below the pocket that had the ring in it and scared the crap out of me.)
We had a lazy lunch after talking with a friend who sells his artwork at the Rio. The lunch started with the Lobster Bisque adn then on to less important menu items. She suggested we take a walk and I told her it was too hot maybe later. (I was freaked out a bit because that was exactly my plan since we had done that on our first date.) Eventually after a lot of complaining I convinced her it was a bad idea. As we were leaving I said you know maybe we really should take that walk because of all the junk we had eaten and she could afford the excercise. (Of course dirty looks followed.) So she took off her shoes and we walked around the pond as I was looking for a nice spot to do the deed but at the same time being really nervous because she was too happy and bouncy, I thought she was suspecting. So I kept us walking up and down along the path until she got tired and annoyed and started to suggest we go home. Then as we walked to a seluded spot and I told her I'd help her put her shoes back on. I got down on my knees and helped her put her shoes on for her and then stayed there and pulled out the ring. She was more focused on looking around while putting them on and then finally looked down to see what was taking so long. When she realized what was going on she burst in to tears while laughing at the same time. When she was relaxed for a few seconds I asked her to marry me. The rest is in pictures.
